Student Exchange Programme to China

39 students and 4 teachers went to China for a Student Exchange programme from 18 May to 26 May 2008.
They had a wonderful learning journey. A special blog was created and described their entire journey and learning experience. You may visit it at : sacps.multiply.com
2 teachers were also there for a staff attachment programme.
Here are some photos of the girls & staff.

Myanmar Collections

On 22 May 2008, the students from St Anthony’s Canossian Primary School responded to the call of the Canossian Community to donate food to the mission in Myanmar.

The day before, Vice-Principal, Mrs Julia Chia spoke to the school about the urgency for food donations, types of food which students can donate and where their donations will be sent to.

Parents and students started pouring in with bags of canned food, instant noodles, milk powder, condensed milk and biscuits.

The staff and students packed all these into boxes which were kindly donated by one of the staff members.
They penned down their notes of encouragement and love to the people of Myanmar on the boxes.

One of the classes wrote: “Your smile will brighten our day!” Indeed, they have learnt that it is “better to give than to receive.”

This donation drive has been a very fulfilling and good experience for our staff and pupils. This was a good opportunity for us to reach out to the global community and think about others before self.

MOE Excel Fest 2008

Invitation to Join Us at MOE ExCEL Fest 2008

This year’s MOE ExCEL Fest will be held on 5 Jul 2008 at Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event will include seminar talks, classroom experience sessions and exhibitions showcasing how our schools innovate to nurture every child for the future.

What sets this year’s ExCEL Fest apart from previous years’ is the presence of the MOE Pavilion. Visitors can play an interactive game together with other fellow visitors to learn more about education. A photo montage of the various groups of people involved in nurturing a child will be showcased under the segment “It takes a village to raise a child”. Visitors can also find out about the various education pathways available at various stages of a child’s life through an interactive application, and listen to students share about their experiences under the latest education initiatives. In addition, visitors can reminiscence about their own education journey, through the heritage centre at the event.

In particular, here are some of the talks that you may be interested in:

a) “What does it take to be creative?” by Mrs Carmee Lim
Mrs Lim will share, through an interactive session, on how parents can set children on their creative paths.
b) “Love Them, Talk About Sex” by Ms Melissa Lim
This is a talk targeted at parents with kids between the age range of 10-17 years old. It is an interactive talk on how, what and when parents can talk to their children about sexuality. This helpful talk will provide parents with basic knowledge and invaluable tips to talk to their children about sexuality issues.

Do visit the website at www.excelfest.com to view the many exciting classroom experience sessions and seminar talks at the event and to register for these sessions. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at MOE ExCEL Fest 2008!
